At 7.30 pm on March 1, officers in Danang City stopped and inspected the coach, registration number 74B-006.86, on National Highway 1A. The vehicle was driven by Truong Nhat Y, 37.

During the inspection, authorities found 53 passengers on board, 15 more than the vehicle’s registered capacity of 38 seats.
Investigators determined that the vehicle owner, Quang Tri 1 Automobile Joint Stock Company, had allowed the coach to operate with an excessive number of passengers, in breach of traffic safety regulations.
Alcohol and drug tests conducted on the driver showed no violations. Police issued administrative fines to both the driver and the company in accordance with the law and instructed the operator to transfer the excess passengers to another vehicle.
During the proceedings, both the driver and the vehicle owner acknowledged the offence and pledged not to repeat the violation.
