The Ministry of Transport said on November 24 that this was a serious case which involved on-duty staff and threatened airport safety. He asked Thanh Hoa People's Committee to strictly punish the men and have measures to tighten airport security.
On November 23, three men went to the airport to see a friend off. After their friend completed check-in procedures, they asked a staff member to take a photo for them then continued to ask her to take a photo with them. When they were refused, they yelled and started hitting and kicking her.

One of the men used a mobile phone to hit her on the head. A manager tried to break them off was also hit on the face and abdomen and two staff nearby were punched. Only when the security guards arrived that the men were stopped and transferred to police.
According to the airport representative, the men appeared to be drunk.
Officials from the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam issued a one-year flight ban for the men.
On November 25, Colonel Khuong Duy Anh, deputy head of Thanh Hoa Police Department, said they had started prosecuting the men who are Le Trung Dung, Pham Huu An and Le Van Nhi for causing public disorder.
