Local people visit the family where the father and his child die in a well on December 1 in Khanh Hoa Province
Chairman of Cam Hiep Nam Commune People's Committee, Nguyen Van Dung, told Dantri/Dtinews on Thursday evening that the 39-year-old man and his child were found dead in the family's well the same morning.
"Initial investigation showed that at 3 am this morning, his wife woke up and couldn't find her husband and their daughter," the official reported. "She went out to find them and saw the child's milk bottle drifting on the well's surface. Thinking that something bad might have happened, she shouted for help and some neighbours came to search the well and found the two bodies."
The well, which is some five metres deep, contains fresh water that the family use for their daily activities and watering their garden. The man was described as being mild-tempered but had recently shown signs of depression.
