Thousands of people flocked onto the streets with national flags to celebrate the men’s football team's semi-final win at the SEA Games 31 on Thursday evening.

Vietnam edged past Malaysia 1-0 in a thrilling semi-final clash at Phu Tho's Viet Tri Stadium on the evening of May 19 to clinch a place in the final.

After the match ended, Hanoi's city centre was crowded with people cheering and waving flags.


The same scenes were seen in Ho Chi Minh City and many other provinces nationwide. The photos show people celebrating the victory on some streets in Ho Chi Minh City.

Park Hang-seo’s squad will play against Thailand who beat Indonesia 1-0 thanks to an extra-time goal by midfielder Weerathep Pomphan. The final will be held at My Dinh Stadium at 7pm on May 22.
