A recent trade fair held in Hanoi brought up childhood memories for many of the attendees.

Sentimental items attractively displayed
The fair, the third event of the iHanoi Market programme, was aimed to recall people’s memories of their childhoods. It attracted the participation of thousands of students in the capital city.
The centre of the fair was a legendary grocery that sold traditional snacks, toys and other trinkets for children such as marbles, lollipops, and ô mai or dried, sugared fruits.
That stall attracted the most attention as it helped visitors remember a particularly sweet part of their childhood lives.
Vu Hoang My Hoa said, “I’m greatly happy to see such lovely things being sold again. These little dried fruits remind me of the time when I was a primary school student. I used to share these with my friends."
Another aim of the event was to help remind young people of the kind of lives their parents and great grandparents lived.
“Remembering the way we lived before is a healthy activity that could also help our young citizens to lead better lives,” said Nguyen The Chien, head of the organising board.
Visitors also had a chance to barter old items, such as shoes for flowers, in order to foster the environmentally friendly lifestyle.
