Police arrsted a woman in Hanoi on June 12 as a member of group using Facebook accounts for defamation against Vietnamese entrepreneurs and celebrities.

Major-General Ho Sy Tien, head of the Ministry of Public Security's Criminal Department, said Tran Thi Huong Giang, 37, of Hanoi's Ba Dinh District was arrested for allegedly posting insulting comments and images targeting local business people and show business celebrities.
Police seized at Giang's home two laptops, five mobile phones and documents related to the alleged acts.
Giang was allegedly part of a group using Facebook accounts to defame artists such as Vu Khac Tiep, Dam Vinh Hung, Ho Ngoc Ha, Nguyen Thi Thanh Van and Nguyen Xuan Lan. The attacks led some of the performers to lose contracts and sponsors.
Some of the postings threaten the children of businesswoman Truong Thi Phuong, prompting her to hire bodyguards to protect them.
Giang allegedly told police the group included individuals inside and outside Vietnam.
Investigations are continuing.
