Export of electric wires, cables down 22% in first 10 months

Vietnam raked in 667.52 million U.S. dollars from exporting electric wires and cables in the first ten months of this year.

Vietnam raked in 667.52 million U.S. dollars from exporting electric wires and cables in the first ten months of this year, a drop of 21.8 percent year-on-year, said the information center of Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday.

In October alone, the country's export turnover of electric wires and cables reached 90 million U.S. dollars, up 10.43 percent from September.

Vietnam exported electric wires and cables to 14 markets in the first ten months including Japan, China, Australia, the Philippines and Thailand, said the center.

During the same period, Japan ranked the first among the Vietnam's export markets of electric wires and cables. Vietnam brought in 479.49 million U.S. dollars from selling electric wires and cables to Japanese market in the first ten months, a fall of 22.49 percent year-on-year.

In 2008, Vietnam's export turnover of electric wires and cables exceeded 1 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.8 percent year-on- year, said the center.
