Tan said that her 63-year-old daughter is struggling with arthritis and epilepsy, while her 60-year-old son is living with mental problems.
"My son behaves like a three-year-old," she said. "He often just sits in the yard and laughs. I often has to search for him as he wanders off at all hours of the day."
Every day, Tan collects scrap to earn VND5-20,000.

Tan said that her life is full of sorrow. Her husband died early, leaving her and two ailing children behind.
Their house has seriously deteriorated. Local authorities helped to consolidate the house with canvas. However, her son ruined it after that.
Le Xuan Hung, vice chairman of Dan Ly Commune People’s Committee, said Tan’s family is among the poorest in the locality. He hoped donors could support them.
