Durians accounted for 33 percent of Vietnam’s total vegetable and fruit export value to China in October, the ministry reported.

Vietnam bagged a record-high of around USD50 million from durian exports to China in October this year
Dang Phuc Nguyen, general secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that between late September and the end of November, Vietnam exported roughly 20,000 tonnes of durians to China. This was fueled by the signing of the protocol between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
Durian prices in Vietnam have increased three-fold since the signing of the protocol with GACC.
Prices of many agricultural products would be higher in the first quarter of 2023 due to the higher demand for Tet and other festivals.
In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam’s durian export value was estimated at USD293 million, up 91.5 percent on-year. Durians accounted for 17.3 percent of the value during the period, just behind dragon fruits which brought in USD552.3 million in export value for Vietnam.
