Permanent Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung welcomed Japan’s stronger cooperation with Vietnam on many economic fields, especially developing auxiliary industries.

Permanent Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung (R) and Co-Chair of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee Kato Susumu, Hanoi, December 10, 2010.

The Deputy PM on December 10 in Hanoi received the delegation of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee under the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren), which is staying in Vietnam to attend the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative (VJIT) Phase III Evaluation and Facilitation Committee Meeting.

The Deputy PM said Vietnam’s key task in the next 10 years is restructuring its economy, so the cooperation between the two governments and the support of Japanese firms will create new competitiveness for Vietnam and benefit both sides.

He said that in economic restructuring, the development of auxiliary industry is significant to Vietnam.

For his part, Mr. Kato Susumu, Co-Chair of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee, said the Vietnam-Japan ties have been reinforced considerably. Recently the two sides have expanded their cooperation into new fields as developing atomic power and exploiting rare earth.

The Japanese side wants to contribute its advanced technologies and means to Vietnam.

Mr. Kato Susumu suggested that the two sides should cooperate further in the development of Vietnam’s auxiliary industry to increase foreign enterprises’ use of domestically-made inputs.
