According to the Ministry of Health, in 2023, Vietnam recorded 170,000 dengue fever cases, including 42 deaths, down 54 percent and 72 percent on year respectively.
However, the country faced an on-year rise in many other diseases such as hand, foot and mouth disease, rabies and measles.Vietnam reported nearly 181,000 hand, foot and mouth disease cases in 2023, including 31 deaths, up 2.7 fold and 10.3 fold respectively, on-year.
The country rose by 12 rabies cases to 82 in 2023.
Meanwhile, 393 suspected cases of measles with fever and rashes were reported last year, marking an increase of 35 cases compared to 2022.
The country also recorded 55 cases of diphtheria, with five fatalities.
Up to 121 monkeypox cases were reported in 2023, including six deaths. The Ministry of Health has warned that more monkeypox patients will likely be diagnosed in the coming time in other cities besides HCM City.
Covid-19 had been well controlled in Vietnam in 2023 with 100,000 infections, including 20 deaths.
