A reporter of the newspaper on Friday granted the VND167.59-million donation for Dai’s family at the National Institute of Haematology & Blood Transfusion in Hanoi where Dai is staying for the marrow transplant. Dai’s family earlier received another donation of VND150 million from the community after an article about his condition was published on Dantri/DTiNews.
The donation was granted to Dai's family at the National Institute of Haematology & Blood Transfusion on August 6
Dai is now experiencing the first phase of the marrow transplant.
Nguyen Hai Yen, a staff member from the institute’s Social Work Board said that thanks to the readers’ assistance, Dai has a chance for being saved.
In July 2019, following consecutive fevers, Dai was taken to hospital for a medical check-up. He was then diagnosed with aplastic anaemia. This shocked Dai’s father who experienced a stroke and then died three months later.
Dr. Do Thi Thuy from the National Institute of Haematology & Blood Transfusion said due to financial difficulties, the transplant had been delayed many times.
