Meals sent by Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper to doctors at Covid-19 Field Hospital 6
The programme aims to send 10,000 meals valued at VND500 million (USD21,739) funded by donations from Dantri readers for doctors and frontline workers at field hospitals 6 and 7 in Ho Chi Minh City.
On August 1, the first 500 meals were brought to the health workers at the two hospitals.
Expressing his sincere thanks, director of Covid-19 Field Hospital 6, Phan Minh Hoang, said that staff were really moved by the care and support from organisations and individuals in and outside the country.
"This is not just a meal but it also represents the public love for us," he said. "It gives us more strength to defeat the pandemic."
Doctor Nguyen Thi Hien said that she used to miss home badly during the first days working and quarantining herself at the hospital, but as she has received more support from the public, she feels better.
"We’ve been here for three weeks and have enough food and drinks," she said. "But such tasty meals like these will help give us more energy to work."
Doctor Nguyen The Anh led a team of 41 doctors and nurses from the northern province of Hai Duong. They have been here for two weeks to support their colleagues in the epicentre of the pandemic.
Doctor The Anh said that he had seen lots of good things that people were doing for one another during this hard time.
"I’m really motivated by these good works that people are doing and will try my best to contribute my part in this fight," he said.
