
Flooding in Ha Tinh
According to Thach Ha District authorities, the flood which occurred from October 18 to 21 flooded 118 communes and wards with 42,000 households. Up to 18,000 households were evacuated. Many people in Ha Tinh also lost their personal papers like ID cards in the flood.
Hundreds of homes in Cam Vinh Commune were submerged. Thuan, a local in Cam Vinh, said her house was under two metres of water, she had to put all belongings on the altar on the walls, however, she couldn't save the rice. Toan transferred VND1m from readers' donations to share some of the burdens with her.

Tran Thi Minh from Tan Lam Huong Commune said, "Everyone from across the country has donated rice and noodles to us which has really touched us. I want to thank everyone who has thought about us and helped us."
Duong Duc Que, head of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front in Cam Thanh Commune, said 90% of the households in the commune were submerged. Que also expressed gratitude to the donors.
"The damage is huge, we can't review everything yet. We’re trying to deal with the aftermath like pollution and disease," he said.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, six people died in Ha Tinh and 132ha of rice and other crops and 2,300ha of fish farms were damaged. 40 medical stations, one hospital and many roads were severely damaged.
