On January 19, the first charter flight will take Chinese tourists to Danang after the three-year suspension owing to the pandemic.
Dang Quang Huy, owner of Him Lam Apartment on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, said that up to 80 percent of his customers were Chinese.
Huy discounted half of his rooms to attract customers. To date, only four among 25 rooms in his building remain empty.
Hoang Thanh Dat, a member of staff at the Tram Huong Shop, said that Chinese customers accounted for up to 90 percent of his shop’s customers. Since the pandemic, the shop has also shut.
After the Tet Lunar New Year, Dat’s shop will serve the Chinese again. They will inform their staff to return to work.
Nguyen Thi My Trinh, director of Bien Vang Hotel, on Pham Van Dong Street said that after the pandemic, her hotel had focused on upgrading and training to meet travellers’ demand.
According to the Danang Department of Tourism, Danang is home to 950 tourist accommodation establishments. The city has concentrated on tourism promotion after the pandemic.
According to Cao Tri Dung, chairman of the Danang Tourism Association, Chinese visitors to Danang are expected to surge from March.
Travellers from South Korea have been forecasted to rise in Danang this year, followed by China, Thailand, Taiwan and India.
