The Nam Phat cargo ship is half sunk after being hit by high waves off Quang Nam Province on November 28.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, a strong cold spell is hitting northern localities. It will expand to the central region on Thursday evening. Danang City will be affected by strong winds from Friday.

From Thursday evening, the sea area around the Paracel Islands will see strong winds with waves rising to 4-6 metres high. Danang’s coastal waters will see waves rising up to 2-4 metres from Friday.

The committee has asked concerned agencies to inform and call on all boats operating in local waters to seek shelter during the bad weather.

The central coastal area has seen rough seas over the past few days. On November 28, the Nam Phat cargo ship was half sunk after being hit by high waves off Quang Nam Province. Luckily rescue forces were able to save 11 crew members and 1,500 tonnes of steel on the vessel.
