The city council approved a relocation support package worth VND 36.3 billion (USD 1.38 million) for residents of the Hoa Cuong Lam Dac San, Thuan Phuoc and Hoa Minh apartment complexes.

Households will receive relocation grants of VND 7.5 million to VND 10 million, with additional assistance for low-income households and eligible policy beneficiaries.

Residents will be offered temporary accommodation at the West and West Extension dormitory complexes in Hai Van Ward. Those choosing to rent privately instead will receive VND 2 million (USD76) per household per month for up to 24 months.

A total of 627 households are subject to relocation, including 286 at Thuan Phuoc, 285 at Hoa Minh and 56 at Hoa Cuong Lam Dac San. Most are tenants of state-owned housing.

The city previously ordered the recovery of 280 state-owned apartments in the three deteriorating complexes to facilitate site clearance and demolition.

Authorities said the relocation aims to protect residents' lives and property, particularly during the upcoming rainy and storm season.
