Wearing face masks in public places is one of the most effective ways to protect people from virus infection.
The Government’s tight control measures have proved effective and now remain in place. Authorities have warned local people about the possible resurgence of the virus at any time, especially during winter time.
Vietnam entered the 60th consecutive day November 1 without a single locally transmitted coronavirus case, according to the Ministry of Health.
People have been still advised to wear face masks, wash hands with soap and water or sanitizer, keep a safe distance and avoid large gatherings in public places.
The Ministry of Health’s statistics show a total of 1,180 patients have been confirmed in Vietnam since the COVID-19 outbreak was reported in the country in January.
Of the figure, 691 cases are locally acquired and the remaining 489 cases are imported ones, returning from epidemic hit countries worldwide.
Notably, as many as 551 locally transmitted cases have been recorded after the SARS-CoV-2 virus resurged in Vietnam in late July.
About 1,063 out of 1,180 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospital.
Of the remaining 82 patients under treatment, 17 cases have tested negative for the virus at least once.
The death toll caused by COVID-19 and related illnesses remains at 35, with 31 cases alone recorded in Da Nang – the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot.
Currently, more than 14,700 people are quarantined at hospitals, concentrated quarantine facilities and places of residence.
