Covid-19 patients being treated at a hospital in Hanoi
According to the ministry's report, 16,104 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,441), Binh Phuoc (1,164), Tay Ninh (903), Khanh Hoa (794), Ben Tre (756), Dong Thap (750), Ca Mau (722), Can Tho (689), Soc Trang (617), Vinh Long (576), Hanoi (548), Tien Giang (545), Bac Lieu (505), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (498), Tra Vinh (456), Binh Duong (418), Kien Giang (409), Dong Nai (390), An Giang (368), Hau Giang (347), Binh Thuan (317), Binh Dinh (286), Thua Thien Hue (240), Bac Ninh (213), and Hai Phong (212). There were 37 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 1,285 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 9,478 infections found in the community.
As of Saturday evening, 1,393,034 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (486,043), Binh Duong (286,877), Dong Nai (91,880), Long An (39,165), and Tay Ninh (37,776).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,398,413. The country now stands 32nd among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On December 11, an additional 1,084 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 1,053,425.
On Saturday evening, a further 209 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 27,611. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (67), Dong Nai (17), An Giang (13), Binh Duong (13), Can Tho (13), Tay Ninh (12), Kien Giang (11), Dong Thap (10), Tien Giang (10), Long An (8 ), Soc Trang (7), Binh Thuan (7), Ben Tre (5), Ca Mau (4), Tra Vinh (4), Binh Dinh (2), Khanh Hoa (2), Nghe An (1), and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1).
Vietnam on December 10 administered 720,109 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 131.81 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 57.10 million people having received two doses.
