The information was given by Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong at the government’s regular meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Covid-19 vaccinations will be conducted right after the Ministry of Health gets an accreditation certificate from South Korea
According to Cuong, the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccine made in South Korea was transported into Vietnam on February 24. Under the Ministry of Health’s instruction, the National Institute for Control of Vaccine and Biologicals has basically completed the verification of the vaccine batch.
However, the ministry is still currently waiting for an accreditation certificate from South Korea before deploying the vaccination.
Cuong added that to date 117,600 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have arrived in Vietnam. With the limited amount, so the vaccine will be firstly given to prioritised people.
Another batch of AstraZeneca vaccine along with COVAX Facility vaccine is scheduled to arrive in Vietnam in late April. The Ministry of Health has prepared infrastructure and resources for storage and vaccination.
Vietnam has planned to provide 150 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for local people this year.
Under the government’s resolution on the purchase and use of Covid-19 vaccines, the vaccines will be prioritised to medical workers; people in the anti-pandemic efforts (Covid-19 prevention and control steering committees of all levels, quarantine facility staff, reporters); diplomats, customs officers and people working entry and exit procedures; military personnel; public security forces; teachers; those aged above 65; essential workers (aviation, transport, tourism staff, utility workers, etc.); people with chronic health issues; people who want to study or work overseas; and people in virus-hit regions.
