Covid-19 infections rise in many localities in Vietnam

Vietnam confirmed an additional 10,259 new Covid-19 infections in 59 localities on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 10,250 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,183), Tay Ninh (683), Tien Giang (671), Dong Nai (631), Binh Duong (607), An Giang (482), Binh Thuan (1,048), Dong Thap (392), Soc Trang (343), Ca Mau (340), Bac Lieu (328), Kien Giang (324), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (300), Vinh Long (291), Binh Phuoc (199), Tra Vinh (194), Ben Tre (185), Can Tho (158), Hanoi (158), Khanh Hoa (150), Nghe An (145), Ha Giang (122), Thai Binh (106), and Long An (100). There were nine imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 1,647 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 4,369 infections found in the community.

As of Tuesday evening, 1,040,346 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (449,776), Binh Duong (244,720), Dong Nai (79,262), Long An (36,772), Tien Giang (21,951).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,045,397. The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On November 16, an additional 6,481 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 870,997.

On Tuesday evening, a further 87 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 23,270. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (35), Binh Duong (7), Long An (6), Bac Lieu (6), Dong Nai (5), Ca Mau (5), Tay Ninh (3), Dong Thap (3), Binh Thuan (3), An Giang (3), Soc Trang (2), Tien Giang (2), Kien Giang (2), Gia Lai (1), Vinh Long (1),Khanh Hoa (1), Ben Tre (1), and Hau Giang (1).

Vietnam on November 15 administered more than 1.08 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 100.86 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 36.09 million people having received two doses.
