According to Minh, the lockdown is being applied in 15 wards of Thuan An and Di An cities and Tan Uyen Town for 15 days. Meanwhile, other areas in the province are being put under social distancing measures in line with the government’s Directive 16.

Localities in Binh Duong have been instructed to assist in the treatment of 17,000 Covid-19 patients in Thuan An City and Tan Uyen Town.

The province has also set up mobile medical stations to support Covid-19 patients, particularly those in sealed-off areas.

In the next two weeks, the Covid-19 cases in the province would reach around 120,000 in total as the province intensifies large-scale Covid-19 testing. So, the province is in dire need of more support from the Ministry of Health by sending medical staff, medicine and medical equipment.

The province hopes to receive more Covid-19 vaccines for roughly two million people in locked-down areas.

Associate Prof. Dr Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of the Hanoi Medical University Hospital, who is directly assisting Binh Duong’s Covid-19 fight, said that the Covid-19 treatment in the province had seen positive signals with more patients discharged from hospital. Around 100 doctors from his hospital will come to Binh Duong soon. Hieu, however, mentioned difficulties in transporting medical equipment and medical equipment from HCM City to Binh Duong.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that in the current situation, Binh Duong fails to ensure two doctors and three nurses for 100 Covid-19 patients. While waiting for support from the Ministry of Health, the province needs to quicken oxygen transportation for the Covid-19 treatment as well as simplify procedures for receiving Covid-19 patients.

Local residents are also required to be instructed to take Covid-19 testing samples by themselves to save time.

Regarding the transportation of medical equipment from HCM City, the province has been asked to contact suppliers for a single distribution and logistics point.
