Vietnam’s Hoang Anh Gia Lai forward Nguyen Cong Phuong is poised to join J.League second division side Mito Hollyhock for the 2016 season campaign.
The 20-year-old forward’s move to Japan was recently confirmed by representative of V-League giants Nguyen Tan Anh, who stated that both clubs became involved in negotiations in many occasions.
The transfer will also see the former Vietnam U-19 skipper to become the second Vietnamese player to play in Japan after Le Cong Vinh with Consadole Sapporo in 2013.
Before competing in J.League 2016, Phuong will stay in Vietnam to join U21 International Football Championship slated for November 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City.
