The store is a part of the Viet Embrace Programme held by Phu Nhuan Jewellery JSC, HCM City Department of Industry and Trade, Business Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Products, HCM City Youth Worker Support Centres, Young Businesspeople Association of HCM City and the HCM City Association For Women Executives & Entrepreneurs.
The organisers are calling for more donations from other firms and individuals to expand the programme.
"Instead of giving care packages, we display everything like a convenience store so that residents can choose what they need. We came up and realised the idea in a very short time," said Huynh Van Tan, representative of the programme management board.
Customers given handwash and gloves
Each household will be given three tickets worth VND200,000 each to go shopping at the store from June 26 to July 4. The store offers over 60 kinds of products from rice, milk to face masks and handwash. Preventive measures are applied at the store to ensure public safety such as displaying the product outdoor.
Xuan Mai, a resident in Thu Duc said she was really moved by the programme. The volunteers even gave them more gifts and help carry the goods.
