On the morning of March 7, Major Ho Ngoc Son, Chief of Pho Chau Town Police Department in Ha Tinh's Huong Son District, confirmed that his unit had successfully helped the Canadian tourist retrieve his lost documents.
According to Major Son, Batsford and his friend visited Pho Chau Town during their motorbike journey exploring Vietnam. On March 3, he lost his wallet, which contained essential identification documents, including bank cards, a health insurance card, and an ID card, along a street in Pho Chau Town. He later reported the loss to the local police and sought their help before continuing his journey to northern Vietnam.
Pho Chau Town Police shared the incident via their Zalo group and official Facebook page. Subsequently, Vi Van Hai, a resident, found some of Batsford's documents and handed them over to the authorities.
Given the urgency of the situation, Pho Chau Town Police maintained regular communication with Batsford to ensure that he received his documents before returning to Canada. They also enlisted the help of a local passenger bus company to transport the recovered items to Nuoc Ngam Bus Station in Hanoi.
