Military from Laos and Cambodia took part in a joint parade rehearsal alongside Vietnamese troops in HCM City on the evening of April 22, for the events to mark the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
This was the second large-scale rehearsal event featuring artistic performances celebrating the historic occasion.
The rehearsal brought together over 10,000 participants, including personnel from the military, police, self-defence forces, and representatives from various social sectors.
The parade procession marched along Le Duan Boulevard in front of the Independence Palace in a powerful display of unity, patriotism, and the enduring strength of the Vietnamese people.
This was the first time that military contingents from Laos and Cambodia had joined such a rehearsal in Vietnam. The joint participation underscored regional solidarity and long-standing co-operation among the neighbouring countries.
Residents of HCM City lined the streets, waving and capturing the historic moment on their phones as the Lao troops paraded down Le Loi Street.
Cambodian troops also marched in formation and were warmly welcomed by the local crowd.
Troops from both nations arrived in Vietnam days earlier, and their training base was set up in Binh Duong City, adjacent to HCM City.
Up to 38 formations, comprising armed forces and representatives from various sectors of society, participated in the event.
Following the rehearsals held on April 18 and 22, a preliminary review is scheduled for April 25. A final full-dress rehearsal will take place on April 27 along Le Duan Boulevard in preparation for the grand celebration on April 30.
