Over the recent days, staff of some bars and discos on Bui Vien Street have been busy with preparations to sell food and drinks.
Hoang Phong who works for a bar on the street, said half of the staff members in his bar have returned home, while the remainder are staying in the city. Since the city removed social distancing measures, his bar has sold fish balls.
Tuyet Van, a staff member of another bar on Bui Vien Street said that her bar had turned to selling fruit juice. She hoped that she could return to her normal work as before.
Meanwhile, several other bars are offering meals for office workers. The service has attracted quite many customers.
Some hotels and bars have deteriorated after being closed for a long time because of the pandemic.
Since October 1, HCM City loosened Covid-19 preventative measures, permitting takeaway food and drink providers, traditional markets, wholesale markets, shopping centres, and convenience stores to resume operations.
But, non-essential services and businesses, such as beauty salons, karaoke venues, discotheques, pubs, bars and massage parlors, as well as lottery ticket peddling remain closed.
HCM City is still witnessing around 1,000 new Covid-19 infection cases per day.
