The incident happened early this morning, May 18th. The barge, which transported five people, was controlled by Pham Van Hung, 50, in Long An Province.
The accident left two dead and one missing
According to witnesses, the barge suddenly sank at Thanh Phuoc Commune, Tan Uyen District in Binh Duong Province, resulting in three missing passengers. The two others were able to swim to safety and survived.
After nearly ten hours of searching, the rescue force has found two victims. One is a 64-year-old woman and the other, a ten-year-old boy. They are continuing the search for the remaining missing person.
According to Colonel Nguyen Van Dut, director of Binh Duong Province’s Police Prevention and Control Board, local authorities are investigating the case.
