At a meeting with the ministry on June 21, Bamboo Airways which is a subsidiary of FLC Group, reported that they are currently using 10 planes from Airbus A319, A320 and A321 NEO with an occupancy rate of 80-90 percent each flight.

Since their first flight took off on January 16 this year, Bamboo Airways have operated over 6,600 flights on 24 routes to 15 domestic airports, carrying 800,000 passengers, the report said.

At the meeting, the airline expressed the need to have a fleet of at least 25 to 30 planes by 2023 so as to operate stably and efficiently. And the ministry agreed with the proposal.

The ministry requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAA) to work with relevant agencies to assess this budget carrier’s fleet expansion plan while taking into account the aviation market’s growth until 2030, the capacity of existing airports, and the availability of the CAA’s aviation safety monitoring personnel.

Meanwhile, Bamboo Airways was asked to clarify its aircraft operating personnel and ability to ensure security and safety.

The ministry added that basing on review outcomes, it will report the firm’s proposal to the prime minister.
