The province has around 28,300 hectares of lychee which are expected to produce some 160,000 tonnes, including 112,900 tonnes meeting the Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practice standard and around 1,000 tonnes with the Global Good Agricultural Practice standard.

The lychees in Bac Giang
Amid the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, the local Department of Industry and Trade has worked with other concerned agencies to look for ways to sell the fruit.
"On March 29, Bac Giang held an online seminar on the promotion of lychee and other farm produce to the US market," said Phan The Tuan, vice chairman of the Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee, adding that the province has continued seeking new markets besides the US, EU, Australia, Japan, China and South Korea.
Bac Giang has also encouraged companies to open lychee stalls on e-commerce websites like Amazon, Alibaba, Sendo, Postmart and Voso as well as through social networks Facebook and Zalo.
Roughly 50,000 tonnes of lychee will be harvested from May 15 to June 9, while the remainder will be harvested from June 10 to July 30.
This year’s weather is forecasted to be quite favourable for lychee crops.
The province has encouraged growers to apply advanced cultivation techniques for better fruit quality and higher value.
