On June 5, Lang Giang District Medical Station gave the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines to the drivers of Bich Thuy Company. One of the drivers, Nguyen Van Hung was also vaccinated.
Hung, 46, gave his medical records and was screened by Dr Than Xuan Tho, head of Voi Town Medical Station. It was concluded that Hung could be vaccinated. He was given the shot at 9.20 am and stayed at the station for 30 minutes, showing nothing abnormal. He was asked to monitor his health for a week for symptoms like high fever, seizures, breathing difficulties and rash and contact the medical stations for advice.
At 1 pm the same day, after having lunch, Hung suddenly had a high fever, seizure and nausea. He was taken to Bac Giang Provincial General Hospital and died at around 3 pm.
Initial investigation showed that Hung had previously had seizures but he didn't declare such information in his medical records. His family members were tested for Covid-19. The results have come back negative.
Lang Giang People's Committee provided the family VND5m and Bich Thuy Company helped pay for his funeral.
The case is still under investigation.
Rumours have circulated on the internet stating that a worker in Bac Giang died because of Covid-19 vaccines. He was given the first shot on June 2 and died on June 5.
On June 6, the Bac Giang Department of Health announced that his death was not related to Covid-19 vaccines. The CT-Scan showed that he had a brain haemorrhage.
