At least 20 prizes will be presented, worth a total value of VND6 billion (USD285,700), to support initiatives aimed at mitigating corruption and increasing transparency and responsibility for a better living environment.

VACI 2013 has solicited the submission of ideas on how to build a better-serving administration, create a stronger sense of civic duty and morality and to increase transparency and the right to access of information.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Inspector General, Tran Duc Luong, said Vietnam has quite a comprehensive legal framework regarding anti-corruption. However, there are still shortcomings in the application and enforcement policy, especially in certain localities. He emphasised the need to increase the effectiveness of policy implementation.

From December 12-20, the organising board, including the Inspectorate General and the World Bank, will organise five seminars to introduce the programme in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen and Dak Lak provinces, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City. They will be receiving ideas from November 29, 2012 to March 18, 2013, with prizes to be presented in June 2013.

VACI was first held in 2011, with the participation of 160 ideas with potential for use in a large number of localities.
