Binh, a fisherman in Phu Yen, said that at around 8 a.m. on Monday, he and his friends saw a whale repeatedly surfacing and diving to feed while fishing at Mai Nha Island in Tuy An District’s An Hai Commune.

Binh said the whale was around 20 metres long. It appeared in the area for around 30 minutes. Binh used his mobile phone to video the whale.
Residents believe that the appearance of a whale in coastal waters is a sign of good luck.
People have been called on to keep a safe distance and not attempt to catch the whale under any circumstances.
Whales have appeared off the Phu Yen coast many times. On July 5, a whale was spotted near Dien Cape.
