PM Dung said the zoning is designed to promote sustainable development and turning Hanoi into a metropolitan in the Asia Pacific region.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development should work hand in hand with Hanoi authorities to restore the river system, continue with dredging work to ensure its beauty, drainage and transport functions. More pumping stations should be built to cope with possible floods,” the cabinet leader said.
He also requested the localities to coordinate with each other to carry forward their land resources and State budget, and attract foreign investments to carry out the project.
Greater efforts are need to accelerate the construction of an elevated railway and a metro rail while halting unnecessary transport projects in the region, he said.
At the meeting, participants also proposed specific measures for the development of the regional transport system, trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, health care and education services.
