Vietnam confirmed an additional 9,625 new Covid-19 infection cases in 57 localities on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 9,617 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 57 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,339), Binh Duong (661), Tay Ninh (599), Dong Nai (578), Dong Thap (509), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (444), Bac Lieu (425), Tien Giang (382), Soc Trang (376), Binh Thuan (370), An Giang (365), Kien Giang (307), Vinh Long (303), Hanoi (287), Ca Mau (270), Can Tho (247), Tra Vinh (194), Binh Phuoc (183), Ben Tre (162), Khanh Hoa (154), Hau Giang (123), Long An (112), and Nghe An (100). There were eight imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 592 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 4,995 infections found in the community.
As of Friday evening, 1,070,011 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (454,061), Binh Duong (246,668), Dong Nai (81,067), Long An (37,119), Tien Giang (23,481).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,075,094. The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 19, an additional 1,971 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 883,564.
On Friday evening, a further 102 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 23,578. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (55), Dong Nai (12), Tien Giang (12), Binh Duong (5), Bac Lieu (4), Tay Ninh (2), Binh Thuan (2), Dong Thap (2), Kien Giang (2), Can Tho (2), Binh Dinh (1), Lam Dong (1), Binh Phuoc (1), and Long An (1).
Vietnam on November 18 administered more than 1.32 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 104.75 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 38.64 million people having received two doses.
