Vietnam has reported an additional 80,838 Covid-19 infections on Thursday, raising the national tally to 9.56 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi ( 8,054), Phu Tho (3,415), Nghe An (3,399), Yen Bai (3,156), and Dak Lak (3,107). The northern province of Hung Yen today added 11,517 more cases to the national tally.
As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,564,609. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,474,782), HCM City (594,585), Nghe An (391,871), Binh Duong (376,566), and Hai Duong (344,058).
On March 31, an additional 250,482 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 7,519,013.
On Thursday evening, a further 39 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,493. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Ben Tre (5), Binh Thuan (4), Cao Bang (4), and Phu Yen (4).
Vietnam on March 30 administered 224,848 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 206.10 million.
