Additional 58,424 Covid-19 infections confirmed on Wednesday

Vietnam reported an additional 58,424 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, raising the national tally to over 9.98 million, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (4,037), Nghe An (2,302), Phu Tho (2,257), Yen Bai (2,230), and Bac Giang (2,160). The northern province of Quang Ninh today added 9,300 infection cases to the national tally.

As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,980,464. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,511,347), HCM City (599,173), Nghe An (408,134), Binh Duong (379,991), and Quang Ninh (318,188).

On April 6, an additional 130,273 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,277,563.

On Wednesday evening, a further 31 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,712. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Ben Tre (4), Kien Giang (4), Dong Nai (3), Binh Duong (2), Hanoi (2), Khanh Hoa (2), Lam Dong (2), and Quang Ngai (2).

Vietnam on April 5 administered 211,704 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 207.23 million.
