An additional 3,639 Covid-19 infections were confirmed in the past 24 hours in 53 localities in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday evening.
According to the ministry's report, 3,620 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 53 localities including HCM City (969), Binh Duong (517), Dong Nai (458), An Giang (232), Tay Ninh (163), Bac Lieu (156), Tien Giang (111), Kien Giang (99), and Soc Trang (87). There were 19 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 408 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 1,573 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 887,797 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (426,090), Binh Duong (229,357), Dong Nai (61,990), Long An (34,301), and Tien Giang (15,737). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 892,579. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 25, an additional 1,323 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 807,301.
On Monday evening, a further 65 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 21,738. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (40), Binh Duong (11), Dong Nai (7), Tay Ninh (3), Bac Lieu (2), An Giang (1), and Tien Giang (1).
Vietnam today administered more than 1.12 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 74.05 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 21.46 million people having received two doses.
