Ngo Thanh Van, from the action movie “Clash,” launched a charity project Friday in cooperation with the Vietnam Artist Agency called Scar of Life to raise money for children with cardiovascular diseases.

The actress explained that the “scar of life” is what remains on a child after a heart operation.
She has invited many of her celebrity friends to join the project, including actor Johnny Tri Nguyen, actress Tang Thanh Ha, singer Dam Vinh Hung, Miss Vietnam pageant winner Nguyen Thi Huyen, entrepreneurs Don Lam and Robin King Austin, and Khai Silk.
They will all appear in a pictorial book with photos and stories on their past failures and how they overcame difficulties to be successful.
At the event, Van told the public that she cancelled her wedding plans in Norway when she was 19 and moved to Vietnam to start her modeling and acting career. She said the decision has left a scar in her life but has also helped her become a well-known public figure.
Profits from the book sales will go to children with heart problems.
There will also be an auction on June 29 with special items like a rice portrait of actress Tang Thanh Ha, an oil painting by Dang Vinh Hung and a secret gift donated by Angelina Jolie with her signature.
Previously, Ngo Thanh Van’s project, My Better Truth 2010, raised US$340,000 and helped 340 children in 30 provinces undergo heart operations.
