38 people in HCM City have been isolated after having come into contact with a South Korean expert who was tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 after leaving Vietnam and arriving in Japan.

38 quarantined after having contact with South Korean Covid-19 carrier

On October 27, Dr Truong Thanh Trung, head of the Department of Health of District 2, confirmed that they had quarantined six people in District 2 alone. They are colleagues and acquaintances of the South Korean expert who was tested positive after arriving in Japan on October 25.

13 other people who had made contacts with those six people have been also isolated. The local authorities are still carrying out contact tracing to find out who had contact with the six people in Thao Dien Ward.

According to the HCM City CDC, they have detected a total of 38 close contact cases. All of them have been isolated and tested. 29 test results have come back negative and they are waiting results for other nine tests.

The CDC has started testing people who made contact with those close contact cases.

The patient arrived in Vietnam on July 29 and quarantined for 14 days in Hanoi. From September 29 to October 24, he worked at lived at a hotel in District 1, HCM City. He wasn't tested for SARS-CoV-2 before leaving Vietnam.
