345 Vietnamese citizens return from Russia on May 13.

Vietnamese authorities and representative agencies in Russia and Vietnam Airlines have worked together with Russian authorities to organise a repatriation flight to bring Vietnamese people in Moscow home.

The passengers are children under 18 years old, students unable to access dormitories, pregnant women, the elderly, transit passengers and employees with expired contracts and visas.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia issued directives on how to complete the procedures and created favourable conditions for all parties to work. They also sent employees to the airport to help with the procedures in the context that curfews have been applied in Russia.

At 4.33 am on May 13, the plane from Sheremetyevo Airport landed at Van Don Airport with 345 passengers. Nine people went with infants and 10 others carried the ashes of their relatives back to Vietnam.

After landing in Vietnam, all the passengers were tested for SARS-CoV-2 and brought to quarantine areas while the belongings are disinfected immediately in the closed procedure.

The airport is also disinfected to prevent cross-transmission.

Vietnam Airlines had also brought several Russian people to their home country on a flight to Russia on May 12. Depending on the quarantine capacity and outbreak development, the authorities and airlines will continue to organise more repatriation flights under the government's directive.
