According to Nguyen Huu Minh, chairman of Ky Son District People’s Committee, the returnees are being quarantined for Covid-19 prevention at schools in 21 local communes and towns. They have to pay for meals on their own.

Under provincial authorities’ approval, all returnees who are from poor households and those living under the poverty line will get free Covid-19 tests. Each of them is given between 5-10 kilos of rice and one carton of instant noodles.
The district will need roughly 508 tonnes of rice to ensure the assistance of 15 kilos for each person for at least two months. So, the locality has asked the province for support.
Mua Y Sua from Tien Tieu Village in Nam Can Commune has to walk for around two kilometres every day to bring meals for her husband Ho Tong Xo who is being put under quarantine after coming back from Binh Duong Province. The three meals consist of just steamed rice and boiled vegetables.

Xo is among 40 people in Tien Tieu Village who returned from the southern region recently. All of them, who are being quarantined at Nam Can Primary School, are provided with meals by their relatives every day as they can’t afford to pay VND80,000 (USD3.48) for the daily meals at the quarantine area.

Hoang Tuan Beauty Salon in Hanoi have donated 500 cartons of instant noodles and 15 fans for poor people in Ky Son District who are being quarantined.
