By the end of Wednesday evening, a rescue team had arrived at the hydropower plant in which the plant’s office building had been totally buried by the landslide resulting from the collapse of part of a nearby hill.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Tuan, director of the provincial Department of Police and Phan Thien Dinh, vice chairman of the provincial people’s committee visited the site.

Flycams were also used to look for the victims, but no traces have yet been found.

On Wednesday afternoon, a male worker was found dead at the site and his body is now being kept at Binh Dien General Hospital.

A similar situation has been reported in the area where 13 members of a rescue group remain unaccounted for. They were part of a 21-member rescue team assigned to discover what had happened to the missing workers involved in a landslide near Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant.

At about 12.30 pm on October 14, the team reached the site of the Song Bo forest rangers’ office and took a rest. However, the facility was then completely buried by a strong landslide.

Only eight people escaped, while the other 13 have not been in contact since then, including Nguyen Van Man, Deputy Commander of the 4th Military Region of Vietnam People's Army and several soldiers and officials.

Hundreds of people have been dispatched to search for the missing.
