16 Vietnamese universities honoured in THE Impact Rankings 2025

Vietnam has made a notable mark in the global higher education landscape, with 16 universities named in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, an increase of three compared to 2024.

FPT University achieves the highest overall score among Vietnamese institutions, falling within the 76.2 to 79.3 range

These prestigious rankings evaluate universities worldwide based on their progress toward achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were introduced in 2016 to promote global peace, fairness, and prosperity. This year saw a total of 2,389 higher education institutions participate in the rankings.

Among the Vietnamese representatives, FPT University achieved the highest overall score, falling within the 76.2 to 79.3 range, thereby placing the university in the global 301–400 tier. Particularly noteworthy, FPT University ranked 80th in the Decent Work and Economic Growth category, one of the 17 SDGs, making it the first Vietnamese university to be placed in the world’s Top 100 for this critical area.

Joining FPT University in the 301–400 bracket were National Economics University Hanoi, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City University.

Duy Tan University and Ton Duc Thang University were placed in the 401–600 group, while Van Lang University earned a spot in the 601–800 category. Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Vietnam National University, Hanoi were both listed in the 801–1,000 range.

Meanwhile, three other institutions - Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Nam Can Tho University, and Phenikaa University - were ranked in the 1,001–1,500 group.

This recognition reflects the growing international presence of Vietnamese higher education and its commitment to sustainable development through academic excellence and social responsibility.
