Dong Thien Phu Silver

The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre received an "SOS" signal from the Dong Thien Phu Silver. Initial reports said the vessel was cruising in bad weather when it was in collision with Dominican-flagged oil tanker MT Ocean Osprey.

The vessel was in Myanmar waters, at latitude 16.12N, longitude 96.195S when the collision occurred.

Vietnam contacted Myanmar and 14 crewmen from the sinking vessel were rescued. They are being cared for and steps are underway to return them to Vietnam.
