According to HCM City’s Department of Culture and Sports, from March 20 to May 31, the city will host a series of cultural and sports events to mark the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890).

Under the plan, Saturday nights on April 19, 26, and May 3, 10, and 17 will include concerts, street music, cruise parades, flower boat shows, paragliding, and flyboard performances at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, Bach Dang Wharf, the Saigon River, and Thu Duc Riverside Park, among other activities.
On April 29 and 30, circus, magic, traditional opera, martial arts, and brass band performances will occur at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and Bach Dang Wharf. On the night of April 30, a 10,500-drone show will illustrate HCM City’s 50-year journey and is expected to achieve a national record for the largest simultaneous drone display.
The department has also proposed weekly Saturday night fireworks from April 19 to May 31 at the Saigon River Tunnel entrance in Thu Duc City.
On the night of April 30, the city plans to set off fireworks at seven locations, including the Thu Thiem Tunnel entrance (Thu Duc City), Ben Duoc Memorial Temple (Cu Chi District), Nga Ba Giong Memorial Site (Hoc Mon District), Lang Le-Bau Co Historic Site (Binh Chanh District), Can Gio Football Ground (Can Gio District), the National Historical and Cultural Park (Thu Duc City), and Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11).
