
Vietnamese singer Orange
In the final round the Vietnamese singer performed “Secret Love Song” by Little Mix along with a confident dance performance. In winning, she became the first Vietnamese representative to win the Asian Supernova Award.
At 23 years old, Orange’s real name is Khuong Hoan My. She finished in the Top 12 in The X-Factor back in 2014. In 2018 she made waves in Vietnam’s music scene with the hit song “Nguoi La Oi” (Strange Person) which was accompanied by rapper Karik. The song reached more than 100 million views in a single month and was among Youtube Vietnam’s top trending list.
The Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival has been held annually since 2011, aiming to bring Asian artists together and to promote the development of the region’s music industry.
Representatives from nice countries including China, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand competed across three categories to select the best superstar, the best song, and the best performance. Vietnamese composer Huy Tuan was among the jury members along with eight others.
In 2018, Vietnamese singer Noo Phuoc Thinh was the nation’s first representative to join the festival.
