Thousands of Ha Tinh students stay home due to flooding

Nearly thousands of students in the central province of Ha Tinh’s Huong Khe District have had to stay at home because of severe flooding.

Following prolonged torrential rains, many areas in Huong Khe District have been seriously submerged.

According to the district’s Department of Education and Training, around 5,000 students in the district have needed to stay at home to ensure safety, including 2,641 from nursery schools; 1,440 from primary schools and the remainder from secondary schools.

Torrential rains have been happening in Huong Khe since November 3 with a rainfall of 241.6 mm.

Many roads and bridges in the district have been put under water, concentrating in the communes off Huong Do, Loc Yen, Huong Trach, Ha Linh and Huong Thuy.
