According to the Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, the high-speed boat service will operate from 4 am to 10 pm instead of the current hours of 6 am-2 pm.
The move aims to promote tourism and economic development and make travel and transport more convenient for local residents and firms.
Phu Quoc Island lies 120 km east of Rach Gia City and 45 km west of Ha Tien City. There are more than 30 high-speed boat trips between these cities to Phu Quoc.
In addition to Phu Quoc, nighttime high-speed boat service will be piloted on routes connecting to other islands, including Hon Son, Nam Du, and Hon Tre.
The pilot programme will be applied until the end of 2025.
