Three companies, including Portcoast, Tediport, and Hpect, jointly proposed the VND8 trillion project to be located near Bai Truoc Beach at a recent meeting with leaders of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee.

According to the proposal, the project will include a passenger terminal, offices, hotels and apartments, a marina, and a parking area, among other facilities.

With a wharf of 420 metres long, the seaport could serve large-size cruise ships of up to 225,000-228,000 GT. There will be a seaplane marina located in the southeast of the port.

Once completed, the project is expected to become a venue for major cultural and socio-economic events and attract more international visitors, helping to boost the economic development of the province and the southern region.

The Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee is finalising dossiers and planning to seek investors for the project.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau is among a few localities nationwide capable of welcoming large cruise liners. The province has received an increasing number of visitors on cruise ships, with over 80,000 reported last year.

Around 50 cruise ships have registered to dock at the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port this year, each transporting at least 2,000 passengers.

The province is scheduled to host seven international cruise ships in January next year.
